Moving from Streaks to HabitSync

You can bring your history with you. Export it, map your columns once, and every day you logged comes across dated as the day you logged it. It is free and takes about a minute.

What Streaks is good at

One of the best-looking trackers on any platform, deeply tied into Apple Health, and a one-time purchase rather than a subscription.

It is Apple-only, so a new Android phone or a work laptop means starting over. It also caps how many habits you can track, and by design it stays a checklist rather than telling you what any of it did for you.

Getting your data out

  1. Open Streaks on your iPhone and go to Settings, then look for the export or backup option.
  2. Export as CSV rather than a backup file. A backup restores into Streaks; it is not readable here.
  3. Mail or AirDrop the file to whatever device you will import from.

Export menus move around. If these steps do not match what you see, look for anything that says export, backup or download, and pick the CSV.

Bringing it in

  1. Make a free account. No card, and the import works on the free plan.
  2. Go to Profile, then Account, and choose Import from a spreadsheet or another app.
  3. Upload the file, or paste the rows straight in.
  4. Check what each column is. We guess, you correct anything wrong.
  5. Look at the summary of what is about to be added, then bring it in.

What comes across

One habit per column, one row per day, which is the shape this importer is built around. Ticks come across as completed days and blanks stay blank rather than becoming misses.

What does not

Streaks stores some habits as Apple Health queries rather than as its own log, and those have nothing to export. Check the file before you import: if a habit is missing from it, it was one of those.

And you can leave too

The export sits next to the import, on the same free plan. Everything you log comes back out as a CSV whenever you want it, including your medication history. That is the whole reason this page can exist: nobody should be stuck somewhere because their record is.
